A double seated chair lift with history
In the early days of winter sports on the Loser, guests were transported up the mountain by bus along the panoramic road, which had been cleared of snow masses. As part of the modernisation of the ski area in 1982, two chairlifts were built from the valley to the area above the Loserhütte. Due to the topography of the mountain, the Loserstock had to be bypassed in order to reach the snowy area of the plateau, and in 2003, after only 21 years of operation, the first section was replaced by a more modern chairlift. In 2024, a general modernisation of the ski area was completed with the construction of the two-section gondola lift.
After 42 years of operation and a total of 3.8 million passengers transported, the double chairlift - loved by some and cursed by others - went into its well-deserved retirement.
The 2-chair lift will be replaced by the new panorama lift, which will carry all winter and summer guests quickly and comfortably up the Loser from autumn 2024.
Starting from the new mountain station on the Loser, a themed trail leads past the Loserhütte to the intermediate station. Various themes on the history of Aussee's local mountain accompany the panoramic hike.
